Winery Visits Visiting a winery in Piedmont is a bit different from visiting a winery in California. With very few exceptions, all wineries require you to make an appointment prior to your visit. Since the Fall is the busiest time for a winery with not only grapes being harvested, but also most vistors arriving, it is necessary to book your visit at least a couple of weeks in advance. Most wineries are closed on Sundays and also Saturday is a day, where advanced reservation is adviseable. While getting an appoinment might seem complicated, one is usually rewarded by a very nice personally lead tasting and visit to which one should bring time. No tasting is shorter than 90 minutes and if one might end up in an in depth conversation with the winemaker, one might stay for hours. Some wineries charge for the tasting, some don't. However any fees are reasonable for the time invested and the wines shown. Your personal guide is happy to book winery visits for you, accompany you if desired and translate, where it might be necessary. While we are very good friends with some producers, we do know most of the area's producers. We are winery experts and know which wineries are to be visited for the greatness of their wines, for the beauty of their cellar or for their location or for all the above.
